The Golden Thorns
Trustee: Pulalu Pula
Captain: Valtiel Ra'then
Deputy: Xiryh Melaned
Location: [Omega] The Goblet Ward 22 Subdivision - Sultana's Breath Apts 006-008
Who are the Golden Thorns?
The Golden Thorns are a group of mercenaries situated in Ul’dah. The group's creation was the brainchild of Pulalu Pula to help the Grand Companies while their military resources are low due to the current circumstances in Eorzea.
As Pula saw this as a profitable and charitable investment, she sought out Eldy Matthiola for permission to form a group of like-minded individuals to take on this work. Pula spoke with Eldy for recommendations for a potential leader. Valtiel Ra’then was approached with the offer which he accepted. Thus the Golden Thorns were born.
How often do the Thorns meet?
Events for the Thorns are performed on an ad hoc basis. Effort is made to plan these events to include as many Thorns members as possible. Attendance is based on each individual's personal time constraints.
What do to the Golden Thorns do?
The Golden Thorns are an offshoot of the Found Family Centre, meant for characters who have taken on an edgier arc. The RP performed by the group tackles darker themes of action-oriented and investigative role play which do not fit well with the Centre’s aesthetic.
The contracts taken on by the Thorns come from the Grand Companies which local law enforcement is unable to handle. On occasion, Pula will negotiate charitable contracts that help the less fortunate of Ul’dah.
How do I join?
We currently do not have a direct application process for the Thorns. Entry to the campaign requires a current member of the Thorns to leave due to DMing capacity for events.
Should a spot arrive, prospective members must have proved themselves by taking on work from the Centre’s Levecounter. This work is delegated and recorded by the Levemete, J’Lihr Tia. J’Lihr will recommend to Valtiel those who may be better suited for Thorn's work.
Upon recommendation from J’Lihr, Valtiel will discuss the next steps with you IC.

The Sahagin Incident
The Golden Thorns are sent to investigate a ransacking of a courier ship from Sharlayan to Limsa. The contactor had a valuable statue stolen from the incident. During the investigation, it came to light that the statue was made of auracyte and housed the soul of a long-dead Sahagin Queen. A clan of Sahagin stole the statue to resurrect their long-dead Queen and bring about a new empire of Sahagin superiority across Vylbrand. As the Queen returned to the Star, the Golden Thorns intervened, stopping her resurrection to full power and retrieving the statue for their client.
Campaign Two
Voidsent in Little Ala Mhigo
The noticeboards of Ul'dah were flooded with posters of missing people from Stone's Throw and Little Ala Mhigo. Pulalu Pula took pity on the poor souls wanting a semblance of information on their missing loved ones and sent the Golden Thorns to investigate. It would be revealed that those missing were lead astray by promises of a new life in the recently liberated lands of Gyr Abania, although the truth was far more sinister. A man wanting revenge for the death of his son lead him to seek dark forces and use the poor souls in rituals to summon Voidsent. The Golden Thorns thwarted his revenge before it could come to full fruition, with Pula having to give the terrible news to the families of those lost.
Campaign Three
Judgement
Voidsent had been summoned in the cave systems of Coerthas, and upon the request of Camp Dragonhead's guard Isarmoix Eurelt, the Thorns were sent to deal with the threat. What they uncovered was a plot by a madman, Cecil, who had been growing his power through others, owned a mysterious Auracyte statue, and was collecting the Aether of innocents to bring about a revolution for those he saw as downtrodden. Valtiel, upon hearing that the Thorns had unknowingly helped Cecil in his schemes sought his own revenge. With the help of Isarmoix though, the rest of the Thorns put an arrow through the heart of the schemes of Cecil and his grand Voidsent Summoning. Although there was great loss, and Isarmoix left to mourn in peace.
