Levecounter
Trustee: J'lihr Tia
Location: The Found Family Centre Room 010
Opening Times: Mondays 7pm - Non-combat: crafting, gathering, and healing | 7.30pm - Combat leves
J'lihr Tia is our resident levemete. Every week, J'lihr matches leves to people's skill levels and preferences in order to give everyone adventuring, gathering, crafting or healing work within the Centre. These quests are all player crafted, and designed to give everyone a shot at developing their characters and making connections.
How does the levecounter work? How do you sign up?
The premise of the levecounter is that the jobs you get here are your ‘bread and butter’. Any task you receive from J’lihr should be within your capabilities with minimal risk of injury. (This isn’t your WoL MSQ questing!) On most occasions, you should be able to complete this work and proceed with your normal life. From time to time, you may go to the infirmary for minor injuries, but debilitating injuries are rare. Before your first attendance at the levecounter, you will need to complete the IC application form found here. This form will then be checked and verified by J’lihr and approved through the Gridanian branch of the Adventurer’s Guild. J’lihr will then issue an Invitation to Attend the next levecounter session. Acceptance of this (and OOCly signing yourself up to the Discord event) will ensure appropriate work is prepared for you to pick up.
What happens at the levecounter?
If you are a combatant or a healer, you will be required to complete a trial leve alongside a more experienced levee before being allowed to take work on your own. On busy nights, please wait on the provided seating until called to the counter.
When you are called up, you will be offered a leve matched to your skills and preferences. You have the option to accept and sign for it, or request something different (be aware there may not be something else suitable – all leves are pre-written). If the line behind you is not too long, you may be presented with a choice of 1-2 leves and can select one from them.
J’lihr will often request people work together on a leve, or you may come to the counter and make the request yourself to work with someone in particular. We believe one of the strong points of the levecounter is that you will RP with a range of different characters, however, so we recommend not locking yourself into RPing with just one favourite character.
Once you have taken your leve, it’s up to you how to complete it over the week. This is really down to how much time you have to put into this, and you don’t need to feel obligated to spend all your time on it if you haven’t got the energy.
There are four main ways to complete a leve:
RP the scene
This is great if you’re working with a partner or group, but you will have to coordinate a time to do this yourself. Please post the log or a summary to the RP-Scenario section of our Discord server.
Write a short story
This gives you complete creative freedom without worrying about rolls. It’s your leve and you can showcase your character however you want. Please post this to the SP-scenario section of our Discord server.
Send an IC report/letter
You can put this in the ‘letters’ channel of the discord. Please address it to J’lihr or to ‘the Levecounter’.
Just call it ‘done’
This is fine too! If you come to the levecounter just for flavour, I don’t mind at all. Just make sure to shoot me an OOC message so I know to move the leve to the ‘complete’ section of my spreadsheet.
Important: Lihr can release payment at the levecounter with a simple heads-up, but if you want the levecounter staff to comment/react to specific things that occurred, you must provide Lihr with the details ahead of time. Lihr can only react to what he knows.
With your completed work submitted using any of the above methods, you can then sign yourself up for the next available Levecounter session on Discord, where you can pick up both your payment and a brand new leve!
Please try to come at the appropriate time. If you’re not able to make your slot, let Lihr know OOC. Sometimes non-combat leves take more or less time than the predicted half-hour. There is always an announcement made over the CWLS when the levecounter is open for each group – whenever possible, please wait for this announcement before entering.
